The mouse is the most important device for precision in gaming – it determines how quickly and accurately you aim. Here you will find lightweight competitive models, ergonomic mice for long sessions, MMO mice with many buttons, as well as wired and wireless options from leading gaming brands. There are mice for shooters, strategies, MMO games, and for anyone who wants more precise and comfortable control in work as well.
How to choose
- The shape and grip. Ergonomic mice are for right-handed users and support the palm. Symmetrical ones fit both hands and are comfortable for fingertip or claw grip. There are also models for left-handed users.
- The weight. Lightweight mice under 70 grams move quickly and do not tire the hand in shooters. Heavier ones provide a sense of stability and control.
- The sensor and polling rate. Modern optical sensors are accurate at any sensitivity. A higher polling rate (up to 4K and 8K Hz) makes movement smoother on high-refresh-rate monitors.
- The buttons. For shooters, 5–6 buttons are sufficient. MMO and MOBA mice have additional buttons for skills and macros.
- The connection. Wireless mice with a 2.4 GHz receiver are as fast as wired ones. Models with multiple modes can also connect via Bluetooth to a laptop.
- The software. The manufacturer's program allows you to change sensitivity, set macros, and profiles for individual games. Some mice save settings in their memory and work the same on any computer.
What to watch out for
- The size of the mouse should match your hand – check the length and width in the specifications.
- For wireless models, check the battery life and whether there is a charging station.
- Teflon feet wear out – replaceable feet extend the life of the mouse.
- The cable of wired mice should be flexible, so it doesn't pull – a cable holder also helps.
- If you play with a mouse on a laptop, the small receiver that stores in the mouse is convenient for transport.
Pad and accessories
The sensor works best on a flat and uniform surface, so a good gaming pad is as important as the mouse itself. In accessories, there are spare feet, grips, and cable holders, and for the mouse, choose a suitable keyboard. For wireless mice, the charging station or wireless charging saves a cable on the desk.
