The gaming chair is for people who spend many hours in front of the computer – gaming, working, or studying. A good model supports the back, allows you to change positions, and rest between matches. Here you will find racing chairs, ergonomic models with mesh, and chairs made of upholstery, artificial leather, or fabric. A suitable chair is an investment in back health, so it is worth taking the time to choose.
How to choose
- Size and maximum weight. Each chair has a recommended height and weight. Check them – a wider seat and a higher backrest are more comfortable for larger people.
- Armrests. 2D, 3D, and 4D indicate how many directions they can be adjusted – height, forward-backward, inward, and rotation. More adjustments mean better support for the arms while gaming.
- Backrest and rocking. Most models tilt backward, and some almost horizontally. The rocking mechanism allows you to lean back and relax.
- Material. Artificial leather is easy to clean but is warm. Fabric breathes better. The mesh backrest is the coolest in summer.
- Lumbar and neck support. Cushions or built-in lumbar support maintain the correct position of the back.
- Base and wheels. A metal base is sturdier than a plastic one and lasts longer. Large wheels move more easily on the floor and under weight.
What to watch out for
- The wheels should match the floor – soft for parquet, hard for carpet.
- The gas lift with a good class lasts longer and prevents the chair from sagging.
- Check the height of the seat relative to the desk – your feet should touch the floor.
- Assembly takes about an hour – usually everything needed is in the box.
- Some models have a footrest that retracts when leaning back.
Correct posture
Adjust the chair so that your knees are at a right angle, elbows are at desk level, and the top edge of the monitor is slightly below eye level. A suitable gaming desk with the correct height completes the comfortable setup. Also, check out accessories like floor mats that protect the parquet from the wheels. Readjust the chair when you change the desk or monitor, as even a few centimeters difference can be felt during long sitting.
