Useful when choosing
The right tool makes assembling a computer, repairing electronics, and building a water loop faster and safer. Here you will find precision screwdriver sets with many bits, tools for opening laptops and phones, pliers, crimping tools, and network cable testers, as well as special tools for water cooling – for cutting and bending pipes, quick connectors, and leak testing.
How to choose
- Precision screwdrivers. Sets with many bits cover screws in computers, laptops, consoles, and phones. Magnetic bits hold small screws.
- Opening tools. Plastic levers and blades open cases without scratches and without breaking clips.
- Network tools. Crimping pliers and the cable tester are needed if you make network cables with RJ45 connectors yourself.
- Hard pipe tools. Bending kits include silicone inserts, templates, and tools for cutting and cleaning edges.
- Leak test. The tester with a pump and manometer checks the water loop under pressure before you fill it with liquid.
- Antistatic protection. The wrist strap or mat against static electricity protects sensitive parts during work.
What to watch out for
- Use a bit with the correct size – the wrong one distorts the head of the screw.
- Do not use metal tools to open plastic cases.
- Unplug the device before you start working.
- Keep small screws in an organized container to return them to the right place.
- The leak test is done with an empty loop, not with already filled liquid.
- Keep the tools in a dry place, especially the bits, to prevent rust.
Compatibility
Precision screwdriver sets cover the most common types of screws in electronics. The water cooling tools are for specific diameters of pipes, so check the size. The crimping pliers are for the specified type of connectors. For other parts for the water loop, see water cooling accessories and fittings. A good tool set lasts for years and pays off with the first repair. If you work frequently with electronics, get a set with an organizer to have every bit at hand.
