Useful when choosing

The radiator transfers heat from the liquid in the water loop to the air and determines how quietly and efficiently the system will cool. Here you will find radiators from 120 to 480 mm, slim models for narrow cases, and thick copper radiators for maximum cooling at low RPM. A properly selected radiator allows the fans to run slowly, keeping the system almost silent.

How to choose

  • The size. It is determined by the number and size of the fans – 120, 240, 360, and 480 mm for 120 mm fans, and 140, 280, and 420 mm for 140 mm fans. The larger the radiator, the more heat it dissipates.
  • The thickness. Slim radiators around 25–30 mm fit in most cases. Thick ones from 45 to 60 mm cool more, especially with slower and quieter fans.
  • The material. Quality radiators are made entirely of copper and brass. Do not mix them with aluminum parts in one loop.
  • The fin density. Thinner fins work well with quiet fans, while denser ones require stronger airflow.
  • The color. Most are black, some are also white for light builds.
  • How many radiators. A processor handles 240–280 mm alone, a processor and graphics card – with 360 mm and more, while powerful systems – with two radiators.

What to watch out for

  • Check the radiator mounting spots in the case and how thick it can be along with the fans.
  • Use only screws of the correct length – too long ones can puncture the channels.
  • Flush the new radiator before installation to remove manufacturing residues.
  • Do not mix copper and aluminum in one loop.
  • Leave a ventilation gap above the radiator for the heated air to escape.

Compatibility

Radiators have standard G1/4 holes and connect with all fittings and tubes. The size must match the spots in the case and your fans. Spare screws and mounts can be found in water cooling accessories. Measure the spots in the case along with the thickness of the fans to ensure the radiator does not interfere with the motherboard or memory.

Frequently Asked Questions
