LED strips and panels illuminate the inside of the case and make the assembly look complete, and some are also used around the desk or for streaming. Here you will find RGB and ARGB strips, single-color LED strips, decorative light panels, lighting controllers, and streaming lamps.
How to choose
- RGB or ARGB. Regular RGB strips light up in one color at a time and connect to a 4-pin 12V connector. ARGB strips have individually controllable LEDs for effects like rainbow and waves and use a 3-pin 5V connector.
- The control. The strips connect to the motherboard and are controlled by its software, or to their own controller. This way, the lighting can be synchronized with the fans and memory.
- The length and mounting. The strips for cases are about 20 to 40 cm long and are secured with magnets or adhesive tape. Longer strips are for desks or monitors.
- Single-color lighting. If you want a calm look, a white or single-color LED strip is the simplest solution and does not require software.
- Light panels. Decorative panels and tiles are arranged in shapes and provide soft, even light. They are a good choice for open shelves and corners of the case.
What to watch out for
- Never connect an ARGB strip to a 12V RGB connector – the LEDs will be damaged.
- Check how many ARGB connectors the motherboard has or get a controller.
- The light reflected on the wall of the case looks better than directly visible LEDs.
- USB strips for desks are powered by the computer but do not synchronize with the lighting inside.
- Different brands of lighting software do not always work together – check if the strip is controlled by your motherboard.
Compatibility
Most strips work with motherboards from all major manufacturers through standard RGB and ARGB connectors. Some systems are closed and are controlled only with their own controller and software. If you want a uniform effect throughout the case, select fans and strips with the same type of lighting. Hubs and controllers can also be found among fan accessories.
