The smart watch shows notifications from your phone, tracks heart rate, steps, and sleep, and helps you train more regularly. Here you can find smart watches and hybrid models from Google, Xiaomi, HAMA, MyKronoz, Canyon, and other brands – from simple models for notifications and steps to watches with GPS, AMOLED screen, and voice assistant.
How to choose
- Compatibility with your phone. Most watches work with Android and iPhone via the manufacturer's app. Check the description to see if your phone and system version are supported.
- The screen. AMOLED screens are bright and have vivid colors and are easily readable outdoors. TFT and IPS screens are more economical. Round watches resemble classic ones more, while square ones can display more text.
- Health features. Heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep tracking, and stress monitoring are standard in most models. For running and cycling, look for built-in GPS so you don't have to carry your phone.
- The battery. Simple models last a whole week or more, while watches with large AMOLED screens and GPS usually last a few days. Hybrid watches with hands last the longest.
- Water resistance. For swimming, look for at least 5 ATM protection, while for rain and hand washing, IP67 or IP68 is sufficient.
What to watch out for
- Health measurements are approximate and do not replace medical devices.
- Replying to messages and calls from the watch depends on the phone and the app.
- The strap should be comfortable for the whole day – check if it can be replaced with a standard one.
- If the watch will also serve for payments, check if it has NFC and if your bank supports it.
- The charger is usually magnetic and specific to the brand – keep it safe or get a spare.
Compatibility
The watch connects to the phone via Bluetooth and syncs data in an app where you can see your workout and sleep history. Usually, in the app, you can also change the watch face, set notifications, and update the watch's software. If you're looking for a simpler and lighter device just for steps and heart rate, check out fitness bracelets. For music during workouts, add wireless headphones that connect directly to your phone.
