Useful when choosing
The stand frees up space on your desk or in the living room and allows you to adjust the monitor or TV to the correct height and angle. Here you will find desk stands for one and multiple monitors, wall and ceiling mounts for TVs, fixed, tilting, and fully movable arms, as well as soundbar stands, from HAMA, Arctic, Gembird, Makki, ACT, Ewent, and other brands.
How to choose
- The VESA size. Check the distance between the holes on the back of the screen – for example, 75 x 75, 100 x 100, 200 x 200, or 400 x 400 mm. The stand must support this size.
- Weight and diagonal. Each stand has a maximum weight and recommended diagonal. Choose a model with a margin above the weight of the screen, especially for movable arms.
- Type of movement. Fixed stands hold the screen tightly against the wall. Tilting ones allow for a downward angle adjustment. Movable arms can pull out, rotate, and tilt in all directions.
- Desk mounting. Monitor stands are secured with a clamp to the edge of the desk or through a hole in the top. Check the thickness of the top that the clamp can accommodate.
- Number of screens. Stands for two or more monitors organize the workspace and allow the screens to be aligned.
What to watch out for
- For drywall, use appropriate anchors or mount the stand to a load-bearing profile.
- Gas spring arms must be adjusted according to the weight of the monitor.
- Leave space for cables behind the TV – some stands have channels for hiding them.
- Many curved and large monitors have uneven backs and require VESA extenders.
- The top edge of the monitor should be approximately at eye level.
Compatibility
If your monitor does not have VESA holes, there are adapters that attach to its edge. When choosing a new monitor, check if it has VESA – most models in the monitor category do. For organizing the desk, phone and tablet stands are also useful, and for laptops – laptop stands.
