A good charger fills the phone quickly and safely, while a bad one charges it slowly and heats up the battery. Here you will find wall chargers, fast chargers with USB-C, charging stations with multiple ports, wireless chargers, and car chargers from HAMA, Maxell, Canyon, Skross, j5create, and other brands. Many new phones are sold without a charger in the box, so this choice is more important than before.
How to choose
- Power. 20–25 W is sufficient for fast charging most phones. 30–65 W is suitable if you will be charging a tablet or smaller laptop with one charger. Charging stations with a power of 100 W and above can charge multiple devices and a laptop simultaneously.
- The fast charging standard. Power Delivery via USB-C is the most common today and works with most phones. Quick Charge is used in some Android models. Check which standard your phone supports.
- The ports. A charger with USB-C and USB-A charges both new and older devices. If you charge several things in the evening, a station with three to four ports frees up outlets.
- GaN technology. Chargers with gallium nitride are smaller and cooler at the same power – convenient for travel and for a laptop bag.
- Wireless charging. It's convenient for the nightstand and desk. The Qi2 standard with magnetic attachment provides more stable and faster charging for compatible phones.
What to watch out for
- The cable also matters – for high power via USB-C, you need a cable that supports it.
- The phone decides how much current to take, so a more powerful charger is not dangerous for it.
- Car chargers must support the car's voltage – 12 V, and for trucks, 24 V.
- Multi-port chargers distribute power – when you plug in a second device, the first may charge more slowly.
- Avoid cheap chargers without markings and protection against overheating and short circuits.
Compatibility
Chargers with USB-C and Power Delivery are universal and work with phones, tablets, headphones, and many laptops. If you are often outdoors, add an external battery with fast charging. For the car, there are phone holders, and for the desk – charging stations that gather all cables in one place.
