Asrock Server ROMED8-2T Workstation SP3 LGA4094 ATX Motherboard

The Asrock Server ROMED8-2T is an ATX motherboard with a Server SP3 socket, aimed at workstation and server configurations with AMD EPYC. It is ideal if you are after a multi-core CPU, lots of RAM, and serious I/O in a relatively standard ATX format. Support for AMD EPYC 7003 (incl. 3D V-Cache) and 7002 opens the door to beastly parallel performance, while the two 10GbE LAN ports make it a logical choice for a storage server, virtualization, or heavy network tasks. The combination of 8 RAM slots, two M.2, and many PCIe 4.0 x16 slots provides serious flexibility for expansions.

What you get is a platform that can handle up to 256 GB DDR4 memory through 8 slots, so you can comfortably plan heavy virtual machines, databases, or render nodes. Support for up to 3200 MHz (OC) DDR4 allows you to squeeze more bandwidth out of the memory, which is important with multi-core EPYC processors. The eight SATA3 6.0 Gb/s ports plus two M.2 slots (PCIe 4.0 x4 or SATA) give you the freedom to combine fast NVMe drives for OS/virtual machines and slower, but larger capacity drives for storage. The built-in NVMe RAID 0/1/5 facilitates the construction of a reliable and/or fast array without an external RAID controller. The two 10GbE ports plus a separate management GLAN (IPMI) are a direct invitation for remote management and high-speed data access in a professional environment.

This board is suitable if you want an EPYC-based workstation, NAS, storage server, or virtualization host with many cards and drives, but want to stay within the ATX ecosystem. It is not the most sensible choice for a typical gaming build – the platform and CPUs are oriented towards server/professional tasks, not towards maximum FPS for the price.

The strongest point here is the combination of EPYC support, multiple PCIe 4.0 x16 slots, and built-in 10GbE in a standard ATX format – serious server potential in a “workstation” package.
