Hard drive WD Gold 8TB 3.5" 7200rpm 256MB cache SATA 6Gb/s - WD8005FRYZ

WD Gold 8TB WD8005FRYZ is a serious server hard drive, aimed at 24/7 workloads and environments where stability is more important than anything else. The form factor is the standard 3.5", so it fits without problems in most server chassis and desktop cases. You have 8TB of capacity, which is more than enough for large backups, file servers, or RAID arrays. The speed of 7200 rpm and the 256 MB cache help the drive respond quickly under heavy I/O traffic.

What you get

In practice, this drive gives you a combination of large volume and predictable behavior under load. With a SATA 6 Gb/s interface and a declared transfer speed of up to 267 MB/s, you can copy large files, backups, and archives in a reasonable time, without waiting excessively. The 256 MB cache helps with burst loads – many small requests, typical for file servers and services that constantly read and write logs, databases, or virtual machines. 8TB is sufficient for a serious amount of data – for example, a multi-year history of projects, media libraries, or backup versions. Its server class means it is designed for operation in environments with constant spinning and a higher I/O profile compared to a typical desktop drive.

• Server-class hard drive with 8TB capacity, suitable for file servers, backup solutions, and RAID arrays.
• Standard 3.5" form factor, which is compatible with most server and desktop cases and rails.
• Spindle speed of 7200 rpm, providing a higher linear speed compared to standard 5400 rpm drives.
• Large 256 MB cache for better response to numerous sequential and random requests.
• SATA 6 Gb/s interface with a declared transfer speed of up to 267 MB/s for stable throughput in daily operation.
• Durable case with a weight of 715 g and dimensions of 147 x 101.6 x 26.1 mm, standard for a 3.5" server drive.
• Long warranty of 60 months, which is a strong indicator of the expected reliability in 24/7 use.

Who it is suitable for

This WD Gold 8TB is a convenient choice if you need a stable server solution – a file server in an office, a backup machine, a NAS with an emphasis on reliability, or a larger storage array. It is also suitable for a workstation where you store heavy projects – video, 3D, photos – and the speed is sufficient, provided the system drive is a separate SSD. If you are after maximum fast loading of games and applications, it is better to combine this drive with a system SSD, rather than relying on it alone.

The combination of 8TB volume, 7200 rpm, 256 MB cache, and a 60-month warranty makes the WD Gold 8TB WD8005FRYZ a very balanced choice for serious and long-term data storage.
