IKEA has now jumped into the world of technology with applications for smart homes and "augmented reality" (AR - Augmented Reality) for furniture, but now it is making a leap into an entirely new field: PC gaming. The Swedish company announced that it is teaming up with the ASUS - "Republic of Gamers" (ROG) division to create "affordable gaming furniture and accessories" with a line of around 30 products.
The gaming range will be developed by IKEA's product development center in Shanghai. The company stated that its designers have conducted workshops with ROG designers, along with professional gamers and "gaming enthusiasts", to "refine" the functionality needed for home gaming furniture. „Together with ROG, IKEA wants to combine its knowledge of home furnishings with ROG's expertise in creating an exceptional gaming experience," the company writes. It mentioned that it will design and build "affordable gaming furniture and accessories", although it did not specify exactly which products it will create with ROG. It is very likely that it will mainly involve gaming desks and chairs.
IKEA and ROG are not the first to make such a collaboration, as Logitech recently teamed up with Herman Miller to create a premium gaming ergonomic chair. However, IKEA may take a different approach, aesthetically speaking. The Swedes stated that they view gaming as a "cross-demographic", so according to them, their new series of furniture and accessories would blend better with your room than those of competitors.
