As a continuation of the ZenBook Duo series from 2019, the new model arrived with several significant improvements.
The main reason to buy this computer? The ability to work on two beautiful 4K touch screens.
With its two displays, this ZenBook brings ease and pleasure to work, play, or surfing the internet, providing faster access to everything with its two touch displays. This laptop saves time, whether you use it for everyday office tasks or working with content creation software like Adobe or DaVinci Resolve.
Asus ZenBook Duo Pro 2 is a high-quality machine with a distinctive design that facilitates all kinds of workflows. One important thing that impressed us is the crystal-clear sound that the machine offers, but we will say more about that below.
Picture and Graphics
Both displays look truly magnificent, and the overall design cannot be overlooked, that’s a fact. However, there are two simple reasons that might distract you:
1) This laptop has a particularly extraterrestrial aura, which means that every time you work from some co-working space among people, strangers will approach you to learn more about the machine.
2) The sound of this ZenBook is so good that when you open YouTube or Spotify, you will want to take a break just to enjoy the music.
Let’s take a look at what the displays offer.
The main screen is a 15-inch 4K OLED, which is simply superb both in appearance and performance. The thin bezels are almost imperceptible and have a 93% screen-to-body ratio. The second screen is smaller - a 4K UHD display with a 32:9 aspect ratio and a brightness of 400 nits. It is positioned width-wise on the “ErgoLift” hinge between the keyboard and the main screen. Called ScreenPad Plus, this smaller display works wonderfully if you use it as a screen to monitor activities in apps like Slack or Teams while simultaneously working on something else on the main screen.
Video and Image Processing
If you use a pen like the ASUS Pen, the second screen of this laptop can turn into a fantastic drawing board, making it a great tool for designers and artists of all types. The necessary tools from content creation software (visual, video, or audio) can be moved to the smaller screen, allowing it to act as a “console.” There is also a new control center with floating buttons that can be customized according to your needs - for adjusting brightness, navigating through apps, switching between applications on the main screen and the ScreenPad, locking the keyboard, etc.
Overall Design
We are not sure whether the design of the 15 OLED should be classified as a plus or a minus for this machine, as each of us has different preferences and habits. The laptop's appearance is certainly remarkable, but everything said after that is a matter of personal opinion.
Since the side touch bar is located on the left, it may be ignored by most users. However, getting used to working with the two displays is easy, and using them quickly becomes a habit. The only downside is the angle of the second screen. This has been considered, and a lifting mechanism has been added to allow height adjustment. From a hardware perspective, the fact that the position of the ScreenPad Plus is adjustable allows for better airflow throughout the laptop.
Sound
As we mentioned earlier, the sound of this laptop is simply superb! With its Harman Kardon speakers and DTS Audio drivers, Asus ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED provides a fantastic audio experience, regardless of the genre of music you listen to on it. Earlier we asked, “Can it run Crysis?”. Now the question is more like, “But can you listen to Tool on it?”. The answer is YES! (intentionally in Caps Lock)
Specifications
We could talk all day about how nice it is to just relax in front of Asus ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED and listen to music, but let’s talk about the specifications since this laptop is actually built for work. The machine features a 10th generation Intel Core i7-10870H processor with a base frequency of 2.20 GHz, paired with a mobile graphics card Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070, so it can meet most, if not all, of the requirements you might have. With 32GB high-speed DDR4 RAM and Samsung 1TB PCIe SSD for storage, it performs perfectly during all gaming tests with titles like Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Forza Horizon 4, Mafia Remastered Edition, and Hitman 3.
Connectivity, battery life, and additional features
The lifting mechanism of the ScreenPad 2.0 screen initially gives the impression that this laptop would be easily breakable, but when we examined the specifications in detail, we saw that ZenBook Pro Duo 15 has a military certification grade of MIL-STD 810H. Additionally, this laptop withstands strong vibrations and high temperatures up to 48 ° C. We are not sure how we would manage to get there, perhaps if we left it on the beach all day (an atypical scenario), but stranger things have happened. The laptop lasts about 10 hours on a single charge, with a test conducted where 720p video was played on repeat. This is more than satisfactory performance, considering what’s under the hood.
For users who are always looking for more processing power, battery life is almost at the bottom of the list. Typically, if an office laptop can run for about 6 hours on a single charge while using email and Office Suite, browsing the web, and a bit of Photoshop, that would be great, and here we see even better results.
In summary - ZenBook Pro Duo 15 is a brilliant machine. The new design is backed by some serious horsepower, and it’s hard to imagine what kind of workloads we could throw at it to show a weak point.
With its sturdy construction, this laptop is a great workstation that you can just throw in your backpack and head out, confident that you can work or entertain yourself without any issues from anywhere in the world.
