AMD has made a "small" mistake in implementing their new technology in CS2, creating potential headaches for users who wish to use AntiLag+ in the game. The latest driver update, version 23.10.1, added the ability for players to use the company's new feature in the popular shooter. The problem is that according to numerous user reports, AntiLag+ may lead to a BAN, as it modifies DLL files, which is considered unacceptable by the AntiCheat system used by Valve.
Although the game has only been officially available since this month, it has already attracted the attention of graphics card manufacturers, who are racing to release updated drivers with support and optimizations as quickly as possible. This includes AMD, which also offers their new alternative to Nvidia Reflex - AntiLag+. This technology can be used by owners of RX 7000 graphics cards and aims to enhance the feeling of smooth gameplay by optimizing frames at the lowest level directly in the game code.
As mentioned above, it was recently found that manipulating DLL functions with AMD's technology may lead to a VAC BAN. Valve reports that they are working together with AMD to resolve the issue and promise to lift the bans on all affected players. However, until this happens, it is highly recommended that any owner of a Radeon RX 7000 card who has already installed driver 23.10.1 simply does not use the new technology to protect themselves from unwanted consequences.
The company also confirmed the situation and immediately took action by pulling the driver from their site until the issue is resolved on both sides and will likely release it again very soon.
