AMD presents Radeon RX 7600 XT 16 GB
The AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT 16 GB graphics processor is designed for gamers who play at 1080p resolution and want to upgrade from an older graphics card, such as GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 5600 XT. The graphics card features the latest RDNA 3 graphics core, optimized for the maximum number of games at 1080p resolution, and with its 16 GB of VRAM, it can even handle some games at 1440p resolution.
Additionally, AMD also offers support for technologies such as HYPR-RX, Ray Tracing, AV1, FSR3, and many more.
Specifications - Enhanced Navi 33 with double the VRAM
In terms of specifications, the card is similar to the well-known RX 7600, featuring the same Navi 33 core. The chip offers 32 compute units (CU), 2048 SP, 64 AI accelerator cores, and improved frequencies of 2.47 GHz (Game) and 2.76GHz (Boost). This achieves a 10% jump in Game and 4% in Boost frequencies compared to the RX 7600. The main improvement is in memory, where we see an increase from 8GB to 16GB, with the same 128-bit bus and 18 Gbps speeds for 288 GB/s connectivity. Additionally, the chip receives a 32 MB second-generation Infinity Cache.
The increase in frequencies leads to a jump of 25W in the overall board power, meaning that the card now requires 2x8 pin power connectors. In comparison, RX 7600 models are powered by a single 8-pin connector. There are no differences in video ports, as we again have HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 outputs available.
Performance - The battle against RTX 4060
Regarding performance, the AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT 16 GB graphics processor offers an average increase of 19.42% compared to the Radeon RX 7600 and up to 46% improvement in games at 1440p resolution, demonstrating the advantage of the larger memory buffer in high-resolution gaming. At 1080p with maximum settings and RT, the Radeon RX 7600 XT 16 GB graphics processor is on average 17.5% faster and up to 40% faster compared to the Radeon RX 7600 8 GB.
Compared to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, the AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT 16 GB graphics processor offers an average increase of 7.7% at maximum settings at 1080p in several games, without using frame scaling technologies (Frame Generation). When setting the Quality mode for frame generation quality on both cards (DLSS 2/3 / FSR 2/3), an average performance increase of 45% and up to 76% for the Radeon RX 7600 XT 16 GB compared to the RTX 4060 8 GB graphics processor is observed.
At 1440p, this difference is even greater, with the AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT achieving an average increase of 9.37% compared to the RTX 4060 8 GB without applying frame-gen and an average increase of 46% with frame-gen enabled.
RX 7600 XT 16 GB vs RTX 4060 8 GB (Frame-Gen) 1080P - +45% faster
RX 7600 XT 16 GB vs RTX 4060 8 GB (Frame-Gen) 1440P - +46% faster
RX 7600 XT 16 GB vs RTX 4060 8 GB (without Frame-Gen) 1080P - +7.7% faster
RX 7600 XT 16 GB vs RTX 4060 8 GB (without Frame-Gen) 1440P - +9.3% faster
Another advantage of 16 GB VRAM is the support for large AI language models. With stable software support backed by ROCm 6.0 in consumer graphics cards, such as RDNA 3, the Radeon RX 7600 XT 16 GB can handle larger models and bigger creative projects along with optimizations for DirectML. The card offers up to 20% faster processing in Llama 7B and 30% faster rendering in applications like DaVinci Resolve (PugetBench).
The AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT 16 GB graphics processor will be available on January 24 at a retail price of $329 (Suggest Etail Price) in the USA. Models from ASRock, ASUS, ACER, Gigabyte, PowerColor, Sapphire, and XFX are expected.
