NVIDIA presents GeForce RTX 5090 – the pinnacle achievement of the Blackwell architecture for gamers. This graphics card is an extremely powerful solution for content creators and gamers. With a price of $1999, the RTX 5090 marks the largest price increase in GeForce GPU history.
Built with the new Blackwell architecture, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 series utilizes cutting-edge hardware technologies, including 5th generation Tensor cores, new streaming multiprocessors, and 4th generation ray tracing cores. Additionally, the architecture supports FP4 algorithms, which significantly accelerate AI processing and allow optimal use of technologies like DLSS 4.
Specifications of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090
Design and Core
GeForce RTX 5090 is the flagship graphics card in the RTX 50 series. It is built on the PCB design PG144/145-SKU30 and features the GB202-300-A1 GPU core. The card will have 170 active SM modules out of a total of 192, which equals 21,760 CUDA cores (a reduction of 11.4% compared to the full potential of GB202). In comparison, the RTX 4090 has an 11.1% reduction compared to its full AD102 chip.
Memory and Bandwidth
On the memory side, the RTX 5090 features 32 GB GDDR7 VRAM, operating over a 512-bit interface. This memory reaches speeds of up to 30 Gbps, providing a massive bandwidth of 1792 GB/s. Additionally, the card includes increased L3 cache and new memory compression techniques that further enhance effective bandwidth.
Energy Efficiency
The RTX 5090 has a TBP (Total Board Power) rating of 575W. It is important to note that the actual consumption during gaming or everyday use will be significantly lower. The card supports the latest technologies, including PCIe Gen 5.0 and DisplayPort 2.1b UHBR20, which allows the use of QD-OLED panels with 8K resolution at 165 Hz.
Performance of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090
NVIDIA demonstrates over 2 times higher performance of the RTX 5090 compared to the RTX 4090, using DLSS 4 in games like Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake 2, and Black Myth Wukong. In standard titles that do not use DLSS, such as Far Cry 6, a performance increase of 30-40% is observed.
Design and Cooling
The RTX 5090 Founders Edition features dual-slot cooling with two fans and a dual airflow system. Its compact design makes it smaller than the RTX 4090, with a length of 304 mm and a height of 137 mm. The card uses liquid TIM (thermal interface material) and a three-layer PCB design – the first of its kind for GeForce GPUs.
In addition to the Founders Edition, the RTX 5090 will also be available in custom variants from NVIDIA partners.
