AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D offer up to 5.7 GHz frequencies, 144 MB cache, and exceptional gaming performance that surpasses the competition
The first Zen 5 3D V-Cache processor from AMD, Ryzen 7 9800X3D, is enjoying great success due to its incredible gaming performance and efficiency. However, it is an 8-core processor. Today, AMD presents its high-end options – Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D, which provide not only impressive gaming performance but also significant improvements in content creation.
Specifications of AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
Starting with the top model, AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D is a 16-core, 32-thread processor, arranged over two CCDs (Core Complex Die) and one IO chip. The processor is configured similarly to the Ryzen 9 9950X but comes with a 3D V-Cache enhanced CCD that provides a total of up to 144 MB cache.
This includes 64 MB cache from the Zen 5 CCD, 64 MB from the X3D stack, and an additional 16 MB L2 cache. Like the Ryzen 9 9950X, the X3D variant offers a maximum frequency of up to 5.7 GHz while maintaining all its overclocking capabilities within a 170W TDP package.
Specifications of AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D
The second part of the series is the AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D, which retains the same core configuration as the Ryzen 9 9900X – 12 cores, 24 threads, and 64 MB L3 cache from its two CCDs, with one CCD equipped with a 2nd generation 3D V-Cache stack. This increases the total cache to 140 MB.
This processor features a maximum frequency of up to 5.5 GHz, which is 100 MHz lower than the Ryzen 9 9900X, but remains within the same 120W TDP package. Thanks to the 2nd generation 3D V-Cache, both processors run cooler and offer better overclocking capabilities, along with standard CO (Curve Optimizer) and PBO (Precision Boost Overdrive) tools.
Performance of AMD Ryzen 9 9000X3D (gaming and applications)
In terms of performance, the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D offers an average of 8% higher gaming performance compared to the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D and up to 58% higher performance in games like Counter-Strike 2.
Compared to the latest Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D offers up to 64% higher performance and an average of 20% improvement, with some games achieving increases of over 20-30%.
But the improvements are not only in gaming. Thanks to the new Zen 5 architecture, the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D delivers up to 23% and an average of 13% higher performance in content creation tasks, such as Corona, Blender, Cinebench, and Adobe Photoshop. With high-end Ryzen 9 X3D processors, you won't lack workstation performance based on Zen 5.
