The gaming desk provides space for a large monitor, a wide keyboard, and a mouse pad, organizing the cables so that nothing interferes with the game. How to choose
- Size. Measure the space in the room. For one monitor and a full-size keyboard, an average width is sufficient, while for two monitors or a wide monitor, a wider and deeper desk is needed.
- Height adjustment. Desks with electric adjustment raise and lower with a button and allow you to change your posture – sitting and standing. Models with fixed height are simpler and more stable.
- Surface. Some desks have a covering like a mouse pad across the entire top. Others have a durable surface that is easy to clean.
- Cable management. Openings in the top, nets, and channels under the desk gather the cables and keep the floor clean.
- Accessories. Hooks for headphones, cup holders, monitor shelves, and lighting make the desk more comfortable.
- Material of the top. A top made of laminated chipboard or MDF is lightweight and practical, while a thicker top is more stable and does not bend under weight. A metal frame provides the best strength.
What to watch out for
- Check the maximum load, especially if you will be placing a heavy monitor or monitor arm.
- “Z” or “T” type legs provide different stability and space for knees.
- Electric desks require a power outlet and space for upward movement.
- Assembly is easier with two people due to the size of the top.
- If you will be using a monitor arm, check the thickness of the top and whether it is suitable for a clamp.
Correct height
With the correctly adjusted setup, your elbows are at the level of the top, and the top edge of the monitor is slightly below eye level. If the desk has a fixed height, adjust the chair accordingly.
