Useful when choosing
The GPU block replaces the air cooler on the graphics card and integrates it into the water loop. This way, the card operates significantly cooler and almost silently, and it also becomes thinner. Here you will find full water blocks for graphics cards, backplates, including active ones, and ready AIO solutions for specific models.
How to choose
- The exact model of the card. GPU blocks are made for a specific board – not only for the chip but also for the manufacturer's version. Check the model and revision of the card in the compatibility list.
- Full block. It covers the chip, memory, and power elements and provides the best cooling for the entire card.
- Backplate. It strengthens the card and dissipates heat from the memory at the back. The active backplate has its own water channel and is useful for cards with memory on both sides.
- The material and appearance. The copper base may be nickel-plated, and the cover may be made of acrylic or acetal. Models with ARGB synchronize with the other lighting.
- AIO for graphics card. Ready solutions with a pump and radiator do not require assembling a loop but are only for specific card models.
- The installation. Removing the air cooler requires attention, but with the instructions, it is achievable – keep the original parts.
What to watch out for
- The block for the reference board does not fit cards with a custom board from the manufacturer and vice versa.
- The thermal pads in the package must be placed exactly according to the thickness instructions.
- Check if the warranty on the card allows for cooler replacement.
- Keep the original cooler – you will need it for resale or service.
- The available blocks are often for specific generations of cards – check before purchase.
Compatibility
GPU blocks connect with the rest of the loop via a standard G1/4 thread and fittings. Compatibility with the card is the most important – check the exact model in the description or in the list from the block's manufacturer. For a large graphics card, you also need more radiator area – see radiators. For the processor, choose a corresponding CPU block.
