Office applications are the tools for everyday work – documents, spreadsheets, presentations, email, PDF files, and graphics. Here you will find office suites with a one-time license and subscription, graphic design, drawing, and video programs, as well as software for text recognition and working with PDF.

How to choose

• One-time license or subscription. The one-time license is paid once and the program works without receiving new versions. The subscription is renewed every year but includes updates and often cloud storage and use on multiple devices.
• Home or business version. Home and student packages are for personal use. Business versions include email and teamwork programs and are intended for companies.
• The necessary programs. For documents and spreadsheets, a basic office suite is sufficient. For graphic design, drawings, photo editing, and video, specialized programs are needed.
• Working with PDF. Text recognition programs convert scanned documents into editable text and help with archiving paper documents.
• The language. Some packages are offered in Bulgarian, others are in English or with multiple languages – check each product.

What to watch out for

• Check how many users and devices the license is for.
• Educational licenses require proof that you are a student, pupil, or teacher.
• For subscriptions, check what happens to the files and features if you do not renew.
• Some programs have high requirements for the processor, memory, and graphics card.
• Team subscriptions allow license transfer between employees when someone leaves.
• Keep the key and account data with which the license was activated safe.
• Download programs only from the official manufacturer's website.

Compatibility

A large part of the office applications work on Windows and macOS, and some subscriptions include mobile versions for phone and tablet – this is indicated for each product. For subscriptions, the program periodically connects to the internet to check the license. Graphics and video programs benefit from a powerful graphics card and more memory. If you work with colleagues, choose a package that supports shared files and real-time editing. Before installation, ensure that the operating system is supported, and to protect your work files, add antivirus software.
