Useful when choosing
The reservoir contains the liquid supply in the water loop, facilitates filling, and helps air escape from the system. Here you will find cylindrical reservoirs, reservoirs with space for a pump, distribution plates for specific cases, and models with ARGB lighting. The reservoir is also one of the most visible parts in the case, so its appearance matters just as much as its function.
How to choose
- Shape. Cylindrical reservoirs are universal and can be mounted on a stand or fan. Distribution plates replace part of the tubing and are made for specific case models.
- Volume. A larger reservoir fills and bleeds the loop more easily. Smaller models are convenient for compact cases.
- Space for a pump. Many reservoirs have an opening at the bottom for a D5 or DDC pump and become a pump and reservoir combination.
- Material. Glass and acrylic show the liquid, while acetal is opaque and durable.
- Lighting. ARGB lighting emphasizes the color of the liquid and synchronizes with the other parts.
- Mounting. Some reservoirs come with stands, while for others you need to buy separate brackets.
What to watch out for
- The reservoir must be above the pump inlet for the liquid to flow to it by itself.
- The distribution plate fits only the specified case.
- Check if the reservoir is for D5 or DDC if you will be putting a pump on it.
- Do not fill the reservoir to the very top – leave some air for expansion.
- Be careful when tightening fittings in acrylic, without overdoing it.
Compatibility
Reservoirs use the standard G1/4 thread and work with fittings from all brands. If you are going to combine a reservoir with a pump, check which pump it is for – D5 or DDC – and whether it is included. You will find pumps and ready combinations in pumps, and stands and brackets in water cooling accessories. Plan the location of the reservoir from the beginning, as it affects how the tubing will run to the pump and blocks. It is most convenient for the reservoir to be visible and easy to refill without disassembling other parts.
