Useful when choosing
A ready-made server is the fastest path to a reliable office system – it comes assembled, with a processor, memory, and drives, tested as a whole and with a manufacturer's warranty. You don't waste time selecting compatible parts and can start working immediately after installing the system. Here you will find servers from Dell and other manufacturers with Intel Xeon and AMD EPYC processors, DDR5 memory, and SSD drives, suitable for files, backups, virtual machines, and business applications.
How to choose
- The processor. For a file server and a small number of users, a processor with 8 cores is sufficient. For virtualization, databases, and many users, choose more cores and a higher frequency.
- The memory. 32 GB is a good starting point for a small office. With virtual machines, plan memory for each of them. Check how many slots are free for future expansion.
- The drives. SSD drives provide fast operation for the system and applications. For large storage, more drives are added in RAID, which protects the data in case of a drive failure.
- The form factor. Tower-type servers stand in the office, while rack models are mounted in a cabinet. Check the number of drive bays for future expansion.
- Power supply and network. Redundant power supplies and multiple network ports increase reliability. Remote management allows restarting and diagnostics without going to the server.
What to watch out for
- The operating system and user licenses are usually purchased separately.
- The server needs a UPS, which protects against power outages and allows for a normal shutdown.
- Rack servers are noisy – plan for a separate room or cabinet.
- Plan a backup of the data on another device or location, separate from the server itself.
- Warranty and service support for servers are often longer – check the terms in the description.
Compatibility and consultation
If the ready-made configuration does not fully meet your needs, you can add memory, drives, and network cards from server components. For mounting parts, look at server accessories. If you are not sure which system to choose, contact us with a description of the tasks, and we will help you with a suitable configuration.
