How to choose
- Operating system. Windows 11 Home is for home use, while Windows 11 Pro adds business features – disk encryption, remote desktop, and domain management. Choose Bulgarian or English language depending on which one you will work with.
- Office and applications. Office suites for documents, spreadsheets, and presentations are sold with a one-time license or an annual subscription. Here are also programs for graphic design, text recognition, and PDF processing.
- Antivirus protection. Antivirus programs protect against malware, phishing sites, and data theft. They are usually sold for a specific number of devices and duration.
- Type of license. The boxed version comes with media or a key in packaging. OEM licenses are intended for new computers. Electronic licenses are received as a key and activated without physical media.
What to watch out for
- Check whether the license is for one computer or multiple devices and for what duration.
- Subscriptions are renewed every year – see what happens to files and features if you do not continue.
- Check the requirements for the computer – newer versions of Windows require modern hardware.
- Educational and business versions have their own usage conditions – check if you meet them.
- Keep the key and the purchase document – you may need them when reinstalling.
- Download installations only from the official website of the manufacturer – unofficial sources often hide malware.
Compatibility
Most programs are for Windows, and some of them also work on macOS, iOS, and Android – this is indicated for each product. For office suites and antivirus programs, check how many devices the license is for if you want to use them on both a laptop and a phone. For corporate purchases, ensure that the number of licenses matches the number of employees and devices. If you are building a new computer, you can add an operating system right when ordering through the configurator.
