Description
Gigabyte B550M K is a Micro ATX motherboard for AM4 socket, aimed at budget and mid-range Ryzen configurations. It is based on the AMD B550 chipset, giving you access to modern features like PCIe 4.0 for GPU and NVMe SSD (with a compatible CPU), without paying extra for features you won't use. It supports Ryzen 3000, 4000 G-Series, 5000, and 5000 G-Series processors, so you have a wide choice for upgrades. Add to that up to 128 GB DDR4 RAM and you get a stable foundation for gaming, work, and a home all-rounder build.
What you get
The four DIMM slots with support for DDR4 up to 4733+ MHz (OC) and dual-channel configuration allow you to combine high frequencies and large capacity – useful for both FPS in games and heavier applications. The two M.2 slots are a serious plus: one is connected to the CPU and supports PCIe 4.0 x4 with compatible Ryzen 3000/5000, which means very fast NVMe SSDs for system and games, while the second – to the chipset with PCIe 3.0 x2 for additional NVMe space. For storage, you also have 4 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s plus RAID 0/1/10, which is convenient if you want a combination of fast SSD and large HDD drives. The built-in Realtek gigabit LAN provides a stable 1 Gbit connection, while Realtek High Definition Audio with up to 7.1-channel configuration is more than sufficient for normal gaming and multimedia without a separate sound card.
- AM4 socket and AMD B550 chipset – a good base for modern Ryzen 3000/4000 G/5000/5000 G configurations with future upgrade potential.
- Micro ATX form factor – fits in compact cases without sacrificing key slots and connectors.
- 4 slots for DDR4 and up to 128 GB RAM with frequencies up to 4733+ MHz (OC) – enough for serious gaming, streaming, and productivity.
- Two M.2 slots: one to CPU supporting PCIe 4.0 x4/x2 (with Ryzen 3000/5000) and one to chipset with PCIe 3.0 x2 – flexibility for fast NVMe SSD configurations.
- 4 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s and RAID 0/1/10 – options for a combination of speed, capacity, and redundancy in storage.
- PCIe x16 slot with up to PCIe 4.0 x16 (with Ryzen 3000/5000) – full speed for modern GPUs, plus PCIe 3.0 x1 slot for additional cards.
- Built-in Realtek GbE LAN (10/100/1000 Mbit) and Realtek High Definition Audio 2/4/5.1/7.1 – stable network and decent sound without additional hardware.
- A total of 4 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 and 6 x USB 2.0/1.1 (rear panel + internal headers) – enough ports for peripherals, flash drives, and external devices.
- Standard 24-pin + 8-pin power connectors – no surprises when choosing a PSU and easier installation.
Who it is suitable for
This motherboard is suitable for budget and mid-range gaming configurations with Ryzen, for home and office PCs, as well as for a small workstation that uses fast NVMe SSDs and plenty of RAM. If you don't need built-in Wi-Fi and prefer a stable wired connection, you won't miss anything important here. It is not aimed at extreme enthusiast overclocking or multi-GPU setups, but at a reasonably balanced build.
The combination of B550, AM4, PCIe 4.0 support, two M.2 slots, and up to 128 GB DDR4 makes it a very sensible foundation for a modern Ryzen build without paying for unnecessary extras.
