Description
Gigabyte Z890 A ELITE WIFI7 is an ATX motherboard for the new LGA 1851 socket and Intel Z890 chipset – aimed at mid/high-end gaming and productivity machines with Intel Core Ultra processors. It combines fast DDR5 memory up to 9200 MHz, a serious M.2 array, and modern wired and wireless connections. You get Wi-Fi 7, 2.5GbE LAN, Thunderbolt 4, and a decent audio codec Realtek ALC1220 in one board that can easily handle powerful CPUs + several fast SSDs. It is suitable for a desktop build that wants to stay relevant for a long time.
What you get
The LGA 1851 socket supporting Intel Core Ultra processors gives you a base for the latest generation of Intel CPUs and future upgrades in this socket. The four slots for DDR5 memory supporting up to 256 GB and frequencies up to 9200 MHz cover all scenarios – from pure gaming to heavy work with virtual machines, rendering, and many open applications. For storage, you have a total of four M.2 slots, including one PCIe 5.0 x4 directly to the CPU, which is ideal for a system SSD with maximum speeds, plus three more PCIe 4.0 slots and one that supports SATA M.2. Additionally, you have 4 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s ports and RAID 0/1/5/10 for classic 2.5"/3.5" drives – convenient for large libraries of games or media. The built-in Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and Realtek 2.5GbE LAN eliminate the need for separate network cards and leave you with more free slots.
- The new LGA 1851 socket with Intel Z890 chipset is ready for the latest generation of Intel Core Ultra processors and overclock-tuned gaming builds.
- Four DIMM slots for DDR5 with a capacity of up to 256 GB and frequencies up to 9200 MHz allow for a combination of high frequency and large RAM volume for gaming and heavy productivity.
- A total of 4 x M.2 slots: one PCIe 5.0 x4 to the CPU for top NVMe SSD, two PCIe 4.0 x4, and one PCIe 4.0 x4/SATA, so you can structure your system, work, and game disk separately.
- 4 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s ports with support for RAID 0/1/5/10 provide flexibility for arrays with capacity and/or reliability – from fast RAID 0 to more secure RAID 5/10.
- The expansion slots include 1 x PCIe 5.0 x16 for GPU and 2 x PCIe 4.0 x4 for additional cards – capture, storage controllers, or second adapters.
- Connectivity is modern: Wi‑Fi 7 (802.11be), Bluetooth 5.4, and Realtek 2.5GbE LAN, so both wired and wireless networks are up to date.
- Rich I/O with Thunderbolt 4 (USB Type‑C) up to 40Gbps, USB 3.2 Gen 2/Gen 1, internal USB headers, and a total of 8 x USB 2.0/1.1 for peripherals, capture, DACs, and other devices.
- The built-in audio with Realtek ALC1220 offers sufficiently quality sound for gaming and multimedia without forcing you to immediately think about a separate sound card.
- The power connectors 1 x 24-pin + 2 x 8-pin provide stable power delivery to the CPU and the entire board, especially important for more powerful processors and overclocking.
Who it is suitable for
This motherboard is suitable if you are planning a serious gaming/creative build with Intel Core Ultra, and want PCIe 5.0 storage, plenty of RAM, and modern networking in one package. It is a good choice for a 1440p/4K gaming system, streaming setup, or workstation with several NVMe drives and RAID arrays. It is not the most logical option if you are aiming for a maximum budget build or will not take advantage of Wi‑Fi 7, Thunderbolt 4, and high-speed DDR5.
The combination of the new LGA 1851 socket, rich M.2 capabilities, and Wi‑Fi 7/Thunderbolt 4 makes Gigabyte Z890 A ELITE WIFI7 a very stable foundation for the next generation PC that you won't replace soon.
