Processor AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D Tray - 100-000001973

9800X3D with a bit more frequency

The Ryzen 7 9850X3D is AMD's latest 8-core X3D processor for the AM5 socket. Essentially, it is a 9800X3D with a higher maximum frequency — up to 5.6 GHz instead of 5.2 GHz. The rest is the same: Zen 5 architecture, 8 cores and 16 threads, 96 MB of third-level cache (3D V-Cache) placed under the cores, and an unlocked multiplier.

In games, independent tests show an advantage of a few percent over the 9800X3D. The difference is measurable but rarely noticeable to the naked eye.

Who it is suitable for

• For the fastest gaming computers with an RTX 5080, RTX 5090, or RX 9070 XT and a 240 Hz or higher monitor.
• For those who want the "best" 8-core and do not want to make compromises.
• If the price difference compared to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is large, the 9800X3D is the more reasonable purchase — in most games, both are practically equal.

Which version to choose

The processor is the same in all versions. The difference is in the packaging and whether a cooler is included:

• Box — in a retail box, without a cooler.
• Tray — without a retail box, just the processor, without a cooler — this page.

The warranty for each version is listed in the specifications. Choose based on price and availability.

What else you need

• AM5 motherboard — B850 or X870 for PCIe 5.0 and USB4. On B650/X670, a BIOS update to a version that recognizes the processor is required. AM5 motherboards
• DDR5 memory — DDR5-6000 CL30 with an EXPO profile. DDR5-6000 memory
• Cooler — TDP is 120 W. A dual-tower air or 240–360 mm liquid cooler. Coolers for AM5
