This CISCO Catalyst 1300 C1300-24XS is a 24-port, fully managed Layer 3 switch aimed at serious networking environments – small and medium offices, data rooms, and more demanding edge installations. You get a metal 1U rack-mountable switch, with wire-speed, nonblocking switching and a capacity of 480 Gbps. Each port supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet, and the switch is designed for stable operation with a forwarding rate of up to 357.14 Mpps for 64-byte packets. Without PoE, the focus here is entirely on throughput, low latency, and reliability.

Who it is suitable for

This switch is suitable for corporate networks, small data centers, office racks, and campus infrastructure where you need 10G connectivity and Layer 3 management in one place. It is also a good choice as a central core for a smaller office or as a distribution switch between the access layer and servers. It is not suitable if you rely on PoE to power phones, cameras, or access points – here you will need a separate PoE switch.

The combination of 24 x 10G, Layer 3 IP routing, and wire-speed nonblocking architecture in a 1U metal chassis provides a very stable foundation for a serious network, without unnecessary extras and without paying for PoE if you don’t need it.
