Hard drive HDD Seagate SkyHawk AI Surveillance 8TB 3.5" SATA 6Gb/s 7200rpm - ST8000VE001

Seagate SkyHawk AI Surveillance 8TB is a 3.5" internal HDD, specifically designed for video surveillance systems and continuous 24/7 operation. The substantial capacity of 8TB gives you enough space for a long archive from multiple high-resolution cameras. The combination of 7200 rpm and 256 MB cache ensures faster response during simultaneous recordings and playback. This is a hard drive that performs best in DVR/NVR systems, where stability and durability are more important than anything else.

What you get

With 8TB capacity, you can store a huge number of hours of video from multiple cameras without constantly clearing the archive. The speed of 7200 rpm helps in heavier scenarios – many simultaneous streams, fast seeking, and access to old recordings. 256 MB cache supports a stable data flow, so that recording does not stutter when the system reads and writes in parallel. The declared MTBF of 2,000,000 hours indicates that the drive is designed for long-term operation in a demanding surveillance environment. The standard SATA 7-pin interface makes it compatible with most DVR/NVR recorders and desktop systems.

• Specialized for surveillance, which means optimization for constant recording from cameras and 24/7 operation.
• Large capacity of 8TB, suitable for long-term storage of video from multiple IP or analog cameras.
• High operating speed 7200 rpm for faster access to recordings and more stable multi-threaded recording.
• Large 256 MB cache, which helps with simultaneous recording and playback without overloading the system.
• Form factor 3.5" and internal mounting – ideal for NVR/DVR recorders and desktop machines with space for standard HDDs.
• Interface SATA 7-pin, compatible with most modern motherboards and recorders for easy integration.
• Long lifespan with MTBF 2,000,000 hours and 36 months warranty, which gives you peace of mind for critical systems.

Who it is suitable for

This drive is the most logical choice if you are building or expanding a video surveillance system – home, office, or for a small business. It is also suitable for NAS when the priority is many hours of video or archival data, rather than maximum speed as with an SSD. If you are looking for a drive for gaming or frequently moving large projects, there are more suitable solutions, but for a pure surveillance scenario, this is exactly its territory.

The combination of 8TB, 7200 rpm, 256 MB cache, and high MTBF makes Seagate SkyHawk AI Surveillance a stable foundation for reliable video surveillance with a long archive and minimal risk of surprises.
