WD Purple Pro 22TB CMR 3.5" 512MB 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s - WD221PURP Hard Drive

WD Purple Pro 22TB is a surveillance hard drive aimed at serious systems with many cameras and a long retention period. With 22 TB capacity and a speed of 7200 rpm, it is suitable for constant 24/7 recording in more demanding environments – from larger sites to hybrid NVR solutions. The SATA 6 Gb/s interface makes it convenient for standard recorders and servers, and 512 MB cache helps for more stable recording with many simultaneous streams. The 3.5" form factor is standard for desktop machines, NVR boxes, and rack servers.

What you get

This drive is from a surveillance series, which means it is designed for constant recording, not for typical desktop workload with many pauses and standby. With 22 TB you can store a huge video archive – convenient for high-resolution systems and longer required retention periods. The speed of 7200 rpm helps with many parallel streams, so the recording from cameras is smooth and without dropped frames. The large 512 MB cache buffers the data, which is a plus during busy moments, for example when you are watching recordings and simultaneously continue to record from dozens of cameras. The SATA 6 Gb/s interface guarantees compatibility with mass-market NVRs, DVRs, and server platforms.

• 22 TB capacity provides space for long-term archives from multiple high-resolution cameras, without having to frequently clean old recordings.
• 3.5" form factor makes it compatible with most recorders, NAS boxes, and server chassis for surveillance.
• 7200 rpm speed is a good foundation for stable 24/7 data stream with many simultaneous recordings and reviews.
• 512 MB cache memory helps for smoother processing of burst traffic when the system records and reads recordings simultaneously.
• SATA 6 Gb/s interface ensures easy integration to standard controllers and recorders without need for special hardware.
• "Surveillance" type means the drive is designed for long-term operation and constant sequential writing of video streams.
• 60 months warranty gives you peace of mind for long-term installations, where drive replacement is associated with costs and downtime.

Who is it suitable for

WD Purple Pro 22TB is a good choice if you are building or expanding a serious surveillance system – larger office, commercial site, warehouse and industrial areas. Suitable also for NAS or NVR when you need large volume for continuous recording, not just space for files. If you need a drive mainly for gaming or fast opening of programs, it is better to combine with SSD for the system and leave this drive for archive and video.

The most sensible in this model is the combination of 22 TB capacity, surveillance-oriented design, and 5 years warranty, which makes it a stable foundation for long-term and more serious CCTV installations.
