Description
Gigabyte X870E AORUS ELITE WIFI7 is an ATX motherboard for AM5, aimed at mid/high-end gaming and productivity configurations with the latest Ryzen processors. It combines a modern AMD X870E chipset with support for Ryzen 9000, 8000, and 7000 series, so you can comfortably plan for future upgrades. You get a DDR5 platform with frequencies up to 8200+ MHz (OC) and up to 256 GB of RAM, plus a serious set of M.2, USB4, and network options for a modern high-performance build.
What you get
The AM5 socket and AMD X870E chipset open the door to Ryzen 9000, 8000, and 7000 series CPUs, which means a good base for gaming at high refresh rates and heavy applications. The four DDR5 slots with up to 256 GB capacity and support for up to 8200+ MHz (OC) provide enough freedom for a fast RAM configuration – from pure gaming to serious work with many open applications and virtual machines. The four M.2 connectors, connected to the CPU and chipset, allow you to install several fast NVMe SSDs – separately for OS, games, projects, and scratch disks. The built-in Wi-Fi 7 and 2.5GbE LAN cover both wired and wireless scenarios for high-speed networking, without relying on additional cards. The USB configuration with USB4 Type-C, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, and a bunch of Gen 1/USB 2.0 ports is convenient if you use many peripherals, external SSDs, and docking stations.
- AM5 socket with support for Ryzen 9000, 8000, and 7000 series gives you a long-term platform with the option for future CPU upgrades.
- Four slots for DDR5 memory with a capacity of up to 256 GB and frequencies up to 8200+ MHz (OC) are an excellent foundation for a fast and voluminous RAM configuration.
- A total of 4 x M.2 connectors (some integrated into the CPU, some into the chipset) allow for several NVMe SSDs of different lengths up to 25110/22110 for flexible storage scenarios.
- There are 4 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s ports with support for RAID 0/1/10 for classic 2.5"/3.5" drives and combinations for speed or redundancy.
- The expansion slots include a main PCI Express x16 slot from the CPU for GPU, plus two more x16 physical slots operating on PCIe 4.0 x4 and PCIe 3.0 x4 for additional cards.
- The network connectivity combines Realtek 2.5GbE LAN with Wi‑Fi 7 (802.11be) and Bluetooth 5.4, so you have both fast wired and modern wireless connections.
- Rich USB configuration: 2 x USB4 Type‑C from CPU+controller, internal USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type‑C header, as well as numerous USB 3.2 Gen 2/Gen 1 and USB 2.0 ports for any peripherals.
- The built-in audio with Realtek ALC1220 provides quality sound for gaming, movies, and voice chat without needing a separate sound card.
- 24‑pin + 2 x 8‑pin power connectors provide stable and redundant power to the CPU and motherboard in more serious configurations.
Who it is suitable for
This motherboard is suitable if you are aiming for a serious AM5 build – gaming at high frame rates, streaming, working with heavy applications, or a combination of all of this, and want Wi‑Fi 7, 2.5GbE, and many M.2/USB options. It is also suitable for someone who plans to start with a more moderate Ryzen and later switch to a stronger CPU from the 9000 series without changing the motherboard. If you are looking for a maximum budget configuration, some of the extras here may be unnecessary.
The combination of AM5 + X870E, DDR5 up to 8200+ MHz, four M.2 slots, and modern network and USB connectivity makes X870E AORUS ELITE WIFI7 a very stable foundation for long-term, modern gaming and productive PC.
