Description
Gigabyte Z790 D DDR5 LGA1700 is an ATX motherboard with Intel Z790 chipset, aimed at mid-range to serious gaming and productivity builds. It works with LGA1700 processors, including 14th, 13th, 12th generation and “next gen” Intel Core, so you have plenty of life for upgrades ahead. The combination of DDR5 memory up to 7600 MHz (OC) and PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for GPU gives you a solid base for modern gaming or work. Add three M.2 slots for fast SSDs and you get a board that easily handles both large game libraries and heavy applications.
What you get
With LGA1700 socket and Intel Z790 chipset, you can install the latest Intel Core processors and rely on their full functionality. The four DDR5 slots with a capacity of up to 192 GB and frequencies up to 7600 MHz (OC) mean you can start with a more modest kit and then upgrade without problems. The three M.2 connectors with PCIe 4.0 support (including one up to 22110) plus four SATA3 ports cover scenarios from fast system NVMe + large storage array to RAID 0/1/5/10 for more serious data. For GPU, you get a full PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, and the additional PCIe 4.0/3.0 slots give you space for capture cards, sound cards, or additional controllers. Realtek 2.5GbE LAN provides a faster network connection than standard gigabit, and the rear I/O with HDMI and DisplayPort covers the use of integrated video from the CPU when needed.
- LGA 1700 socket with support for 14th, 13th, 12th generation and next gen Intel Core processors gives you a wide choice of CPUs – from budget to multi-core models.
- Intel Z790 chipset provides overclocking capabilities and rich connectivity, suitable for gaming and serious work/pro builds.
- DDR5 memory, 4 slots, up to 192 GB and up to 7600 MHz OC allows you to combine high capacity and high frequencies for multitasking, rendering, and modern games.
- 3 x M.2 slots (PCIe 4.0, including one up to 22110, plus SATA support on one slot) give you space for several fast NVMe SSDs and flexibility in storage configurations.
- 4 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s with RAID 0/1/5/10 support allow you to combine classic HDD/SSD arrays for capacity, speed, or redundancy.
- PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for graphics card provides maximum bandwidth for current and future high-end GPUs, plus additional PCIe 4.0/3.0 slots for expansions.
- Realtek 2.5GbE LAN offers higher network speed and better responsiveness in online games and LAN environments compared to standard 1Gbps.
- Rich USB I/O: USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C and Type-A, Gen 1 and USB 2.0 provide plenty of fast ports for external drives, peripherals, and front panel connectors.
- HDMI and DisplayPort on the rear panel allow you to use the integrated video of the processor for office/work builds or as a backup option.
- Realtek Audio CODEC and 3 audio jacks cover standard gaming and multimedia audio configuration without the need for an additional card.
Who it is suitable for
This motherboard is suitable if you want a solid DDR5 platform for gaming on new Intel Core CPUs, streaming, and heavy multitasking, without entering the extreme enthusiast segment. It is also suitable for creative work with a lot of storage – thanks to the three M.2 and RAID options. If you are looking for built-in Wi-Fi or the richest audio, you will need to consider additional cards or a higher-class model.
The combination of Z790, DDR5 up to 7600 MHz, PCIe 5.0 x16, and three M.2 slots makes the Gigabyte Z790 D DDR5 LGA1700 a very reasonable foundation for a modern and long-term build that you can upgrade for years.
